Public Service Broadcasting, Radio Nepal describes Bungadya as Rato Machhindranath, Karunamaya, and Arya Avalokiteshvara, worshipped by Hindu and Buddhist communities as a deity of compassion and rain. Nepal Tourism Board also records the festival as a devotion more than 1600 years old, centered on prayers for sufficient rain, healthy crops, peace, and wellbeing.

Production pages should extend this record with related route stops, oral-history clips, audio pronunciation, Nepali and Nepal Bhasa translations, source confidence, and editor review history.
